Businesses may obtain health insurance through Harvard Pilgrim Health, Delta Dental Plan, and United Health Care of New England. Coverage is easily obtainable and at substantially discounted group rates.
SAILS Newsletter
Published regularly throughout the year, the newsletter keeps the business community connected, and is free to members. In addition to information about upcoming events and programs, SAILS features member profiles, news provided by members, updates on government affairs and other relevant activities in town. SAILS is also an excellent vehicle for business-to-business advertising.
Web Site Listings and Link
All business members are listed in the Member Directory here on the web site, and are provided with a link to their web site.
Shop Scituate and Services Guide
Member businesses are included free in this complimentary resource guide, updated annually, which provides detailed, categorized reference for residents and visitors. Each listing includes the business name, address, telephone number, web address, and a brief description of the goods or services offered. Ten thousand copies are printed every year, and distributed through member businesses, as well as at the Town Library, the Town Hall and other public venues.
Networking, Education and Professional Development
The Chamber hosts a number of programs throughout the year.
Business After Hours networking meetings, often held in collaboration with chambers from neighboring communities, offer the opportunity to share information and develop relationships with business colleagues. Members are encouraged to display their marketing materials at these meetings.
Workshops, Seminars and Guest Speakers provide valuable information on a range of issues that affect the business community. Recent programs include "Crimestopping 101" which addressed physically protecting business premises, reducing the risk of being robbed, and how to behave during a robbery, and an evening with Marketing guru Doug Fleener.
Professional Recognition
The Chamber’s Excellence in Business Awards honor local businesses for outstanding contributions to the economic health and quality of life in Scituate. The award categories allow for recognition of a broad range of businesses.
Community Involvement
Government Affairs - A Chamber liaison monitors town government actions that are relevant to the business community, and provides information to the membership via the web site, newsletter, and special notices when necessary.
Scholarships and Gifts - Several $1,000 scholarships are awarded to high school students every year, and donations are made to help support services to senior adults in our community.
