The Board of Directors of the Scituate Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the 2011 Scituate Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards, honoring member businesses for outstanding contributions to the economic health and quality of life in Scituate. As you can see, the award categories allow for recognition of a broad range of business types, sizes and unique qualities.

General Criteria: Any chamber member may nominate a business for recognition (including their own), and only chamber member businesses are eligible for recognition. In general, nominees should be those whose business practices and professional conduct contribute to a sense of fellowship among all local businesses, and which helps to promote Scituate as a good place in which to do business.

CATEGORIES

Small Business of the Year
Small businesses are the mainstay of our community. This award recognizes a non-manufacturing organization of less than 25 employees which has been in business for at least five years. In addition to the General Criteria mentioned above, specific criteria that will be considered for this award includes: unique marketing strategy and success, community involvement, and exceptional, informed customer service.

Entrepreneurial Spirit
The entrepreneur takes a vision and turns it into reality. This award recognizes a business which has developed an innovative product or a valuable new service, or one which has adapted and improved a current product or service to keep pace with the times and the needs of its clients. The business should be no more than five years old, or be one that has undergone a significant shift in focus within that period of time.

Community Support
This award recognize a business person whose civic and community service goes beyond “normal” responsibilities, creating a lasting and beneficial impact for all residents. The nominee should be someone who sets an example for commitment to public service, while maintaining a strong business image.

Lifetime Achievement
Our business community includes a distinguished group of long standing professionals who have not only made their mark in the world of commerce, but have enriched the community at large.

Specific Criteria for this award includes:

  • Strong community involvement
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a changing business world
  • Innovative business strategies
  • Recognized business leadership as a role model

Scituate Federal Savings Bank announces Scholarship Winner

Scituate Federal Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Jackie Perfetti of Scituate is a 2011 recipient of the Allan R. Wheeler Memorial Scholarship. Ms. Perfetti was awarded the scholarship based on her outstanding academic achievements at Scituate High School.

 


 

Choral Art Society Announces Upcoming Events.

7pm, Monday, July 18th,  – Mozart Requiem, at St. Mary of the Nativity Parish Hall, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor,  www.stmaryscituate.org

7pm, Monday, August 22 – Brahm Requiem, at Derby Academy Larson Hall, 56 Burditt Avenue, Hingham, www.derbyacademy.org

All are invited to come and be the chorus. Professional singers from the Boston area will be the soloists. Our accompanist for the evening is Dr. David Collins.

Tickets are available at the door and are $10 regular admission/$9 for seniors and students. Please bring a score if you have one.  A limited number will be available for rent for $2. Air-conditioning and light refreshments are provided.  Both spaces are handicapped accessible.

The Choral Art Society of the South Shore is a thriving community chorus founded in 1958, dedicated to the performance of all genres of choral music, from Renaissance to 21st century. A non-auditioned chorus, the Society performs challenging music for the enrichment and education of its members and audiences.  We promote Creativity, Inspiration, Joy and Service through the
performance of choral music.


Nine And Dine Wrap Up

McSweeney and Ricci Insurance Agency Awards Scholarships

Bob Monahan from McSweeney and Ricci Insurance Agency recently announced the recipients of the Scituate Chamber of Commerce Scholarship awards. The winners were Caleb DuVoisin who will be attending Connecticut College this fall and Sara Ratto who will be attending either Providence College or Fordham University. Congratulations to both!
